| Heximine solid fuel stoves are the most popular camp stoves on the planet. Almost all armed forces and aid relief agencies make use of this highly efficient, ‘bullet proof’ and safe technology. Because of the compactness and also the efficiency of Heximine tablets at higher altitude the stoves are already highly regarded among mountaineers accross the globe. It is time for this age-old technology to be refined and made available to our fast emerging outdoor market. | |||||||||||

Safety instructions:
General safety instructions pertaining to heximine tablets in general:
Stove care: After the stove has cooled down sufficiently for you to handle it. You can scrape the remains of the tablet from the tablet platform, wipe the stove with a wet cloth and fold away. |

Q&A: The intensity of the heat can be increased by breaking up the tablet, which increases the surface area. You could also choose to use 2 tablets at the same time which will decrease cooking time dramatically- provided that both tablets can safely fit on the fuel tablet platform. Do not stack the tablets on top of each other! The distance between the tablet and the cooking utensil is impotant for the stove to work efficiently.
You can buy tablets online on this site ! Most reputable camping shops will stock the tablets. The most popular brand in SA is Coghlan’s tablets (dealers of Coghlan's products - see right hand column on site ). You can’t miss them – it is the green packs! The very reputable brand (probably also the most expensive) is Esbit – they pack their 14g tablets in individual blister packs which also makes it the handiest format available. Currently these tablets are unavailable in SA.
Hexamine flames can reach teperatures of well above 700degrees Celsius - so, please be careful! |

A jaffle is a sandwich that is traditionally grilled in a cast iron 2-sided pan over an open flame. I use my Tri-plate and a cast aluminium jaffle pan (also known as a pie iron) to transform simple ingredients like cheese and tomatoes into a pressed grilled delight, similar to an Italian Panini, but better, because you can make them right at your campsite on your Tri-plate. There are 2 kinds of jaffles: The Savory Jaffle (think of fillings like: scrambled eggs, grated or sliced cheese, ham, pepperoni slices, bacon, tomato relish, sliced tomatoes, grilled mushrooms, grilled peppers, onions) or the Sweet Jaffle (think of fillings like: sliced banana, peanut butter, honey, jam, Nutella, marshmallows, sliced apples/pears/peaches) |

|
1) Line a slice of bread with the ingredients of your choice. Top with another slice. 2) Coat the inside of the jaffle pan with butter or oil or spread the outside of your slices with butter or margerine. Squeeze your sandwich into the jaffle pan and close by hooking the latch. 3) Place on your tri-plate, allow to cook for about two minutes each side. Undo the jaffle pan and cut into halves. NB – ensure that the pan is well supported to stay steady on the tri-plate. Remember the fillling gets quite hot! |

To prevent your tablets from getting damaged and to keep them dry, I would suggest the following: the Coghlan’s tablets are round and fits easily into empty Cal-C Vita tubes. Remember to mark the tube clearly to avert confusion. |

We set out in December 2007 to re-design the 6-decade old folding stove (originally designed by Esbit- Germany). A study on the effect of pot height on Hexamine efficiency made it clear that designing an efficient stove the size of your credit card seemed highly possible... |
